CIMA Ireland is rolling out the Financial Management for Business course to schools across Ireland as part of a pilot programme to help teachers give their students an intuitive understanding of accounting. Teachers are invited to trial the product with their students for a year at a very discounted rate.
The Financial Management for Business (FMFB) simulator is a unique educational tool that delivers in-classroom learning support to help pupils master the foundations of accounting in a novel, competitive and engaging way. Through a series of online, interactive simulations the FMFB assists pupils to acquire an intuitive understanding of the fundamentals of accounting and financial management. The simulations build progressively on the key concepts of finance and culminate with the opportunity for pupils to run virtual retail businesses in competition with each other, in a lively and exciting online challenge. FMFB learning outcomes are aligned to a wide range of Leaving Certificate accounting syllabus areas.
The online nature of the simulator allows teachers to create bespoke programmes allowing individual pupils and teams to explore and develop key competencies and apply knowledge in a business environment. This includes dealing with areas such as sole traders, preparing financial statements and how to use and create cash flow statements.
