It is with great sadness and deep regret that we announce the death of one of our founding members, Mr John O’Connor. John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross after a long illness, which he fought with great strength, determination and courage.
John’s name is synonymous with Business education in Ireland. His contribution to Business teaching has been immense, as an author, publisher and founder member of the BSTAI. He played a pivotal role in syllabus committees and State Examinations throughout the years. First and foremost however, John was a Business teacher at heart.
John was generous to a fault with his time, energy and wisdom, supporting teachers throughout Ireland. He visited BSTAI branches throughout the country to prepare students (and teachers!) for the Business exam each year, in particular the Applied Business Question.
Our sincere sympathies to his wife, Laserina, sons Cillian and Finian, daughter-in-law, brothers, sisters and extended family, friends and colleagues.
Reposing at 14 Hillside, Birr, Co. Offaly from 3pm to 9pm Wednesday 20th July. Removal on Thursday morning at 10.15am to arrive at St. Brendan’s Church, Birr, at 10.45am for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Clonoghill Cemetery, Birr. For more information see rip.ie
If you would like to leave a message of condolence for his family, you can do so here.
Rest in Peace John, from all your friends in the greater BSTAI family.
Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís.
